AVCHD and my MBP

hello im luking forward on buyng a camera Canon HF10. i whan to now will my mac can handle the AVCHD encoding and decoding? maybe some one nows how long it will take to decode a 1h AVCHD video for editing?

Hi!
Im working with the hf10 and MBP. I import the files with iMovie and it works flawless. If iMovie is open when I connect the camera it will ask if I want to import. Just like iPhoto does with photos.

I, too, would like to know how long it takes to import 1 hour of AVCHD from the HF10 into iMovie 08.

Time to import AVCHD in iMovie

It takes 2,5 to 3 times the original duration. I tested with one minute original videotime and it was just under three minutes.
