AVCHD Camera and Quicktime Broadcaster?

Hello everyone,

I am trying to use an AVHCD camera to broadcast through QuickTime Broadcaster.
It doesn't recognize the camera. Is there any way, or is it even possible to use an AVCHD with Broadcaster?
Or do I have to use FireWire?

By the way, the connection I am using for the camera to my MacBook is USB
