.AVI File Assiocations - Help

Hello, i have VLC Media player (videolan.org) and it works great. Now i select VLC to handle the .AVI files as default. But it keeps reverting back to quicktime so when i double click it tries to open it in quick time, but fails.

At the moment i'm just right clicking and doing Open with > VLC

I want to double click and it open with VLC. Any help or advice is appreciated, Thanks!

I assume you tried; Click the file with your right mouse button; open with; other; click vlc and check the box "always open with this program" (or something like that, cause I'm translating from dutch). Did you do it like that?

Yeah i've tried that. But keeps reverting back.

right-click any .avi file then click on "Get Info" , then when the tab opens up displaying info on the movie, go down to where it says "Open with:" then change it to VLC, then click the button directly below that which says "Change All..." then confirm. Now all .avi files will open automatically with VLC
