i just converted a movie using Handbrake (into file avi, mpeg4, mp3) and for some reason when i try to edit it in iMovie it says the file is too large and to take it to quicktime to break the file up and to retry. however when i try opening it in quicktime it says it doesnt have the necessary components. do i need to download an encoder file or something? please help me out. i hope this makes sense.

Download and install the DivX QuickTime codec and the 3ivx QuickTime codec. You can use VersionTracker, MacUpdate, or Google to find them.
