I would like to combine 2 video files of same encoding into 1. Most of the ones i'm doing are AVI files. there are some mp4s etc

i've been using visualhub but it takes a little while because it just re-encodes using the same parameters. but i see no option for pass-thru.

are there any apps that just join them together without encoding?

Install Perian if you haven't already, then use Quicktime.

Open 1st file in Quicktime. In the menu select Copy Entire clip, I believe. Then Open part 2 in a new Quicktime window. Make sure playhead is at the beginning of part 2. In that window, Paste part 1. Check that they are in order. Save as a .mov file. Voila!

Hope it helps.
