avid academic vs non academic?

just i wanted to ask about avid software, avid MC or xpress pro.

anyone here knows the difference between the academic version and the non-academic real version.

i qualify for academic, but i dont want to get a software that is locked.

someone said, the academic version lacks a lot of effects and third party software.

is it so?

It's missing some third-party software but none of it is essential.
Never heard it's missing effects though.
