Avid Mojo looks good, and it would be great to have the option of using other formats via firewire. Another option for us FCP users is the AJA Io, the Io will give us many more video format options with FCP without buying a system that cost $10,000+ dollars. I don't know what the price is for it but I know I want one.

Well, according to the page you linked to it's $2290. ;)

Good one Avid

Looks like a great solution for anyone who wants to keep using the familiar Avid interface.

By the way, is this not the same company that announced on the same day as Final Cut Express' debut that they would release a two-track limited Avid editing application for free? This was originally sceduled for release in the middle of this year but for some reason we are still waiting for it.

Please excuse my stupidity. Actually I found that page as I was posting and did not read it. Its a decent price.

It's a damn good price. I remember the days when you needed $10k+ Media 100 machines to edit DV.

(An alternative to the AJA IO is the Decklink stuff. Stupidily cheap, less than $2000 pacific pesos (Australia) for SDI capture with real time effects. Wow.)

AFAIK the Mojo offers a whole lot of hardware acceleration while the AJA IO doesn't.
