I am trying to hide my jailbroken iPad from being detected by Jamf Management software. The managers of the iPads are searching for the Cydia. app, although I hear they are having trouble doing this. Either way, is there a way for me to get past this detection? I figure they might also scan the iPads for common apps lie Activator as well. Thanks

I would say no. You can hide icons but they're visible when you search for them in Spotlight. You can't remove entries in Settings, either.

You can disable Mobile Substrate by holding volume-up when you boot up your iPad, and that will prevent any jailbreak tweaks from actually loading up. They won't be active, or visible in settings. But any hidden icons will reappear (as mobile substrate is disabled), in addition to all of them still being visible in Spotlight.

I lease the iPads for 400 a year (it's forced lease, I know it's a ripoff). It's looking like I will have to un-jailbreak for the time being. It's a bummer because I have spent about $20 on tweaks. I guess I played that risk when buying them. Can I make a full backup of the jailbroken state and return to it if I'd like?

Yes, PKGBackup.

Assuming that you knew for sure when they would check the iPad would be a huge asset to you...in that case you could restore then re jailbreak and restore from backup to make yourself whole again...should apple release 6.1.1 for iPad and stop signing 6.1 you'd be screwed unless you'd saved your blobs earlier...that being said I have never restored to an unsigned firmware and know nothing of the trials and tribulations that come along with that...

Of course that is also assuming that 6.1.1 would patch the jb...

If you're leasing for $400 a year is there anyway to just buy your own? You can get a used one for less.

When you hide through springtomize they don't show up in spotlight either...

What's with all these moral cops on the board lately?

Its not moral cops, its common sense genius.
I was just saying if a company issues you a work device they dont want you hacking it obviously. Especially if they're running software to detect the jailbreak dont you think?
If you want to JB it you should purchase your own.
That would make sense to normal people instead of trying to find ways to hide the JB. Get it?

I would say it is sound advice, would you really want to lose a job in this economy for tweaking something that does not belong to you? Spending 500 dollars to save thousands of dollars in lost wages would be a better option IMO...

Thank you.
I guess kids dont get it that work and providing for your family is more important to some than jailbreaking a device. Especially when its not yours to begin with and the company dont want you doing it.
I wouldnt risk getting in trouble or getting fired over something like that.

Nobody can really "force" you to get a lease unless it's part of your contract and then it's not really a lease because you are not keeping it at the end; my guess is your work gives you an iPad for $400 for an specific amount of time to do your work and then you return it. Is more like a yearly job expense that is nonrefundable. You should put it as a Unreimbursed Employee Business Expense in your taxes.

What's w/ all the people that can't properly comprehend things that are written on the board lately?
I guess you don't care about losing your job.
