Can I turn this off rather than have to X out each time I go for walk and watch starts workout - I did not get this feature with earlier version of software on AW 10. Thakns

On the phone, Watch app, tap "Workout". Under "Reminders", turn off "Start Workout".

Or the same on the watch itself - open the Settings app, scroll and tap "Workouts", turn off the "Start Workout" reminder.

That will stop his watch from auto-sensing that he's working out and asking him if he wants to start a workout, which is not what he's trying to accomplish.

OP, go to the Watch app on your phone, scroll down to "Workout", click the right arrow, turn off "Check In Reminders".
