When the most recent major watchOS update out, my AW4 would suddenly start to die at 6-8 PM ish. I put it in at 7 AM. After some months of use and more updates coming out, it started to last me all day once again until going to bed at 10 PM.

But about a week ago, my watch suddenly started to die at 2 PM. Today, I got up at 9 AM and 4 hours later it’s down to 30%. Battery health says it’s at 79% which is not great, but IMO should last me longer than 6 hours or so.

Are there any fixes I can perform myself to improve battery life? I know I can turn off certain features, but I’m thinking if it somehow needs recalibrating or something weird like that (far from an expert here lol).

Any tips?

I think a new battery (a new watch maybe, given it’s a Series 4, unless you still have AC+ and can replace battery for free) is necessary but I give you few hints from personal experience and suggestions I received:

-use a watch face with no complications, possibly with black background.
-keep the screen on for 20 seconds instead of 70 before returning to black screen
-disable background app processing for all apps
-reduce apps that send notifications to AW
-use power saving mode for Training app
- disable excessive noise notifications

See if with this settings you can reach the evening. Most of these can be set on the settings in the watch. Maybe for notifications on the phone.

Reset watch, don’t restore from backup, don’t install any apps, and see how long it lasts.

Be aware that some batteries can swell when they go bad and you keep charging them. Happened on my series 5.
