Hi i bought an ss series 7 watch from Amazon here in the UK, it was DOA not switching on or charging. i sent it off for repair through Amazon. could i have sent it to Apple instead for them to fix ? would they have replaced the watch if it is unfixable ?. i’ve got a bad feeling i’m not going to like the out come with Amazon. thanks

How long did you leave it on the charger for? Battery was likely completely drained and there have been several threads her on the same issue reporting that it started charging after a few hours…

I was hoping it would but i left it overnight on its own charging “puck” with an apple 20 watt charger but before the over night charging i used two other chargers. but it got very hot

Same happened to my Daughter's S8 as she left it to run out and the battery had been drained for about a week.

Put it on charge and nothing, but it got hot. Did a hard reset and it sprung into life.

If it got "very hot" there is something wrong. Keep us posted what happens.

Did you purchase from Amazon (sold and fulfilled by Amazon), or an Amazon Marketplace seller (sold by xyz and/or fulfilled by Amazon)? Also, I'm presuming by DoA you mean completely dead on arrival - so you've never been able to link it to your Apple ID/account and "validate purchase date" for Apple's warranty?

Either way, you've got consumer rights - if Amazon and/or the Marketplace seller want to drag out the process of repairs/diagnostics, you've got short-term rights to reject outright and get a full refund. However, I'm presuming you managed to snag some price glitch or "flash" sale, so I'd keep on at them to offer a replacement or request updates on the repair/diagnostics - sometimes out of the blue they'll just refund and expect you to purchase again, alas at whatever the current price is.

As for Apple, I can't help but feel their customer service has dropped massively - from personal experience if you didn't buy whatever you need support with from Apple directly, they get needlessly difficult and if you happen to have purchased from Apple but without AppleCare, it's the same again! Long gone are the days you could walk into Apple and have a Genius help you without conditions within the warranty period.

I would have just returned it outright.

The repairer emailed me saying the manufactures warranty expired on 28/01/2023 and they wanted £380.36 to repair it. it was covered under Amazon warranty but i just got a full refund funny though that i had just bought it brand new but Apple warranty was expired. bought an iphone 14 pr max from Amazon as well don’t know whether i should send it back as i don’t know if Apples warranty will be expired to as i would like to get Applecare+ for it.

I’ve had poor experiences buying Apple stuff through Amazon. They do a terrible job tracking purchase information for warranty purposes.

Any time you buy anything Apple from Amazon always check that Apple’s support app shows the correct purchase date, the date you purchased it, and have them adjust.

Hi is that the app on the phone that tells you purchase date and when the warranty runs out. how would i get them to change if it is the wrong date please many thanks

You contact Apple and tell them that the records they have are incorrect. They'll want proof of purchase from Amazon. At least that's how it worked for me.
