Starting a new thread,

I solved the issue with the used AW Ultra 2 I got for my son, unfortunately he's busy (...) and his iOS 17.6.1 iPhone 11max and his .me account doesn't allow download betas not to mention he is not a registered developer member, the options would be to free up space, register as a developer, download the beta and go ahead, free up space, wait for official iOS 18 to be released (when is it going to happen, mid Sept) or take the watch to an Apple center and have it somehow downgraded or done something it can be paired with current iOS, is this last option something they do there and then of have to drop them the watch?

Grazie

Man you do not need to pay the $99 fee for being in the Apple developer program, it is only required for signing up to attend WWDC in person, and to put your apps you developed in Xcode into the hands of iOS, iPadOS, visionOS, watchOS and macOS users to the App Store.

You still need to use the MobileMe address under the Apple ID to logon to developer.apple.com please and accept the terms and conditions. That Apple ID you login there must be signed in on his iPhone 11 Pro Max. See the previous thread where I sent a screenshot and answers as well.

Be well, and have a great night.

Might be better to enroll here: https://beta.apple.com/

I know what you mean, my son is busy at work for almost 14-16 hours a day and he has no time to apply to the developer program, I just found out that the watch carries a version 11 firmware which is beta and that's why only a iOS 18 iPhone can pair it, we'll have to either wait he has time (and will) to apply as a developer or for the final iOS 18 version

Thanks

Then wait until it’s his day off and y’all can try to sign into the Apple Developer website with his MobileMe account as the Apple ID and ensure that the iPhone is logged in with it. Also, since the Apple ID has an email address that was created before iCloud got released you may also have multiple aliases, so if there’s an iCloud email address under that iPhone, check if his @ me email address is in that Apple ID as well, and maybe the .mac as well, some longtime Apple users of decades use either one as their primary method to sign in their Apple ID.

Same applies for the Apple public beta program as well, and it will be a long 2-3 weeks to wait for final iOS 18 release.

Once after that ensure that the iPhone 11 Pro Max is logged into the MobileMe email address as the Apple ID used to sign in to the Apple betas. I also had to restart my iPhone to get the betas once, so do that after these above steps. Since iOS 16 users have a choice to pick which beta they want, developer or public so no need to install a profile, but a restart can help as it allows iOS to recognize the Apple ID is signed up and eligible for installing beta iOS and watchOS.

I have iOS 18 and watchOS 11 on my iPhone that is released a year before the 11 and I still get them. If worst comes along, then drop by the local Apple authorized service provider you booked a reservation for and get the Apple Watch Ultra checked out. Bring the iPhone 11 Pro Max, all the charging cables for both devices, and the affected Apple Watch Ultra. Make sure he does a backup of his iPhone in case a restore is needed.

following up… had you followed these instructions and get the Apple Watch Ultra to pair with the iPhone 11?

  • Try to sign into the Apple Developer website with his MobileMe account as the Apple ID. Agree to the terms and conditions after you sign in.
  • Ensure that the iPhone is logged in with the MobileMe account.
  • Check if the Apple ID has multiple aliases, including an iCloud email address.
  • Check if the @ me email address is in the Apple ID.
  • Check if the .mac email address is in the Apple ID.
  • Restart the iPhone to get the betas.
  • Install the iOS 18 beta on the iPhone.
  • Install the watchOS 11 beta on the Apple Watch.
  • If the Apple Watch Ultra is affected, bring it to the local Apple authorized service provider.
  • Bring the iPhone 11 Pro Max, all the charging cables for both devices, and the affected Apple Watch Ultra.
  • Make sure he does a backup of his iPhone in case a restore is needed.
