Allo to you all. I've done my research and it's not easier to decide. What do you think of the protectors found on the Web? Is it recommended or not? A film, a tempered glass or a full cover? I'd like this last one but it makes the watch looks overweight. Or should I be more cautious and fully aware I have a watch on my wrist?
Thanks a lot.

It’s up to you. I use a little plastic cover that snaps over it. If you’re working or doing something for you know you’re going to hit your watch or something then it’s helpful especially if you don’t have the stainless steel version with the sapphire screen.

"I hate the apple watch ultra. Its big bulky and looks to0 large on anyone's wrist"

Proceeds to put giant plastic screen and case protector over S7 SS 45mm watch.

I might consider a snap protector for my ultra just for the weight room. I can get a bit aggressive. I didn't for my S7 Ti, and it had some blemishes from it. No dents though.

I use a really ugly but effective UAG case on my S5 when I'm doing certain types of work, mainly machine inspection at industries that had fire damage. It has kept my alu S5 pristine since launch. The case just snaps on, so I only ever use it when needed. A good compromise for my watch really, I'll be getting something similar for my Ultra that's on its way.

I have the AWU and don’t do it. The screen should be hard enough to damage. I have seen YouTubers do extreme things with it. Yes, I know the titanium casing could scratch, but I never ever had any accident with it.

Plus, I have AC+ for the extreme cases.

I use just glass protector.
That will damage in instances where the screen would not. So you're effectively putting something on just for it to break and cost money to replace, versus using the screen naked and it not damaging. As much as I hate drop tests etc on YouTube, you only need to watch several on the Ultra to see the screen is all but bullet proof.

I’d say the watch can put up with daily use as long as you’re not super clumsy. My series 3’s screen is still very nice with no visible scratch coming close to 5 years, the aluminium body held up surprisingly well too, only has two dings from a drop onto the road when I was super careless.

This is an item which will be mostly stuck on your wrist and not like a phone which has a higher chance of dropping, it also doesn’t hold it’s value even if it’s in pristine condition, so I’d recommend to just use as is and admire the design

I was involved with testing the Pitaka watch "cover" with the Series 6. It seemed to protect the case from scratches and scuffs very well, but it did not cover the glass crystal. It was the black/grey aramid material, and looked quite stylish... I used it until I upgraded to a Series 7, as it didn't fit the larger case. (44mm > 45mm). Not sure I'd have spent the $40 out of pocket, though.

A full cover? No. It's like putting a car bra on a Rolls Royce.
This. I don't like the look of the Apple Watch "cases" that completely cover the watch. That's not for me. I find them bulky and, more often than not, ugly.

AC+ is the way.
If you can afford it, I agree, AppleCare+ is the best case. I've never really banged up an Apple Watch, even my S1 alum. looks passable after 3ish years of daily use.

If you have to, go for a screen protector. Anything else ruins the look of the watch.

I’m going to get apple care and I just watch a YouTube video of this guy testing the durability of the watch. I was blown away. They dragged in on concrete, rubbed it against dirt and rocks, and was slamming into a concrete pillar and brick wall. Watch face wasn’t even scratched. Seems like apple stepped it up with the sapphire glass this year.

I’ve had several Apple Watches over the years and I’ve never used a screen protector or case on any of them and I’m not likely to. While cases and screen protectors look fine on the phones on the watches they look ugly. I’m very unlikely to drop my watch and yes there is a risk of bumps and bangs but I’ve never had any serious damage to any of my watches. Maybe some minor scuffs but that’s it. Even the sapphire crystal glass is very durable. I got mine the Ultra now and I plan on using it without a case or screen protector.

Depends what model you have. I had early aluminum watches and screens scratched so badly that I splurged for stainless Series 6 with sapphire glass - it has held up very well for 2 years with no screen protector. Also, early on I had a spigen case on the 6 and when I removed it after a month or so, the stainless was crazy scratched. I buffed it mostly out and have gone naked every since.

I used to use screen protectors on all my devices, including my MacBook. Replaced one on my iPhone and it took oleophobic coating with it. Screen looked like garbage after that. Never used one since and I feel so liberated.

The best screen protector is AppleCare+, on any Apple device!

Protectors: no. The answer is always "no." Waste of time, waste of money. Apple glass is strong enough across all products that you don't have to use any of this junk.

Personally, I find protectors and cases for AW silly and gross. It’s like the plastic couch cover on grandma‘s couch. Just enjoy the watch and don’t be paranoid about getting a scratch.

Up until now, I’ve never scratched (since Series 0) an AW, or any other watch I’ve worn - and I have a couple nice ones. I don’t treat my AWes gently either. For example, sometimes when I’m taking zoo photos (with a DSLR) my wrist is pushed up against a fence to get the right view. And if you do get a scratch, it’s a scratch on an AW, not an irreplaceable art masterpiece.

I usually have the coverage. I’ve never had to use it. It’s peace of mind which to mean is worth it.
