I've been away from Apple for a little over a year and just recently got back in with an 11 Pro Max and and AW Series 4, but a few things aren't working the same as back when I had a Series 1 over a year ago. I figured it's probably a setting somewhere which got worded differently or something.

So basically, I remember there used to be a setting which would silence your phone when your watch was being worn. So when I get notifications or the get a call, the phone wouldn't make a sound if I was wearing my watch, and the watch would vibrate.

With my new watch and phone, the phone still makes notification sounds, and my ringtone still plays when I am wearing my watch. I would like it to be the way it used to be.

In the Apple watch App, I have it set to Silent mode, and don't actually see anything that mentions to silence phone when watch is being worn.

Also, I've noticed when I get a text, email or phone call, the watch's screen doesn't light up to show me the what's up. I have to tap the screen to actually see it.

I figured these things are just settings somewhere which I must be overlooking. Anyone have any suggestions?

1. I always have the mute switch on ALL the time, my phone doesn't ring, but my watch still vibrates.
2. See #1, otherwise go into settings and modify to NOT mirror phone on that setting
3. no idea
4. you should get a vibrate at the very least, then you raise your wrist to see it.

Wearing the watch silencing the phone - I've had Apple Watches since Series 2 and never saw such a thing nor a setting to control it. Maybe it existed in the original version?

As for notifications displaying on the watch - see Notification Privacy under Watch app on phone -> Notifications. Turn it off.

Thanks for the replies.

Wearing my watch doesn't seem to silence the phone for some reason. I never had to use the mute switch on my Iphone before.

As I am typing this, I just got an email and didn't hear anything from the phone, and my watch didn't vibrate. Although I know the Mail app on the phone has been jacked up since iOS 13 released.

Notification Privacy is already off.

I dunno, maybe this is a sign I should just return it and get a Series 5. :)
