Hi Everyone,
New member and about to be a new AW owner. Right now the major retailers have AW3 Nike 42mm at a considerable discount vs. 44mm AW4 Nike. I would be a casual AW user (time, fitness, and occasional checking of messages).

Should I jump on the AW3 on sale or is it really worth the extra $170 for AW4 version?

Thanks for your input!

I was trying to decide the same thing a week or so ago and I got the AW4. But that's me. I like the latest and greatest and the bigger screen and new features were worth it to me. But then again I am a first time AW purchaser so I have no comparison. I'm sure those who own both may have a differing opinion but I guess one consideration would be how long you plan to keep the watch and do you plan to upgrade regularly. If you are going to keep it for a couple of years or longer I would pay more and get the newer processor, larger screen and upgraded features which will be a bit more future proof.

The AW4 has fall detection. Young people fall too. I think it’s worth it.

Is $429 - $359 really $170?

I had the Nike AW3 and upgraded to the Nike AW4. I made the decision to upgrade because:

-bigger screen.
-more complications/watch faces
-ECG functionality
-upgraded heart rate sensor

Speed would be included in that list and I believe Apple touts that on their website, however it’s not that much more faster than the AW3.

S4 easily for a $70 difference.

Faster, screen size, newest tech for resale if that interests you down the road.

I'm confused. The prices in your title would be a $70 difference, but you say $170. Which is it? And where are you getting these prices? Regular pricing is S3 Nike: $279 (GPS) or $379 (cellular). S4 Nike: $399 (GPS) or $499 (cellular). So $120 normally.
