Hello,
I noticed that my Apple watch 5 is discharging much faster when it is off the hand, just put on the table. How's that?

My question in rebuttal would be, what Troubleshooting steps have you taken? Have you tried a hard reset? Do you have a plethora of third-party apps, which one of them may be rogue?
 
Actually, the watch is pretty new. I did not install any 3rd party apps. Also, I stopped 2/3 of originally installed apps...
 
Maybe it's trying to detect your wrist. IIRC this happens optically. People want their Watches to be responsive as soon as they're on the wrist, so I'd imagine it's "wrist-watching" pretty continuously if it's not on a charger. Maybe searching for your phone too?

I'll look forward to other theories posted here.
