Hi everyone,

the battery of my Apple Watch Series 7 Stainless Steel is now at 82% of total capacity and often the last 20% drain super quickly. Looks like the battery is nearing its end after four years.

So I decided to have the battery replaced by Apple (120 Euros here in Europe). The watch arrived at Apple's service center and they now claim that the Watch has a hardware defect which affects the mainboard.

Needless to say that the watch worked flawlessly the whole time.

The only options presented by Apple now are to decline the battery service and have it sent back unrepaired or to have them fix the hardware problem which would cost 490 Euros. Neither is an acceptable option to me as I want a new battery and I most certainly won't pay this amount when I can go out and buy a new one for the same price.

Any thoughts and similar experiences out here?

Much appreciated!

Talked to Apple customer service and they said the gyroscope is defective. And the only options are repair or send back.

They will send me the watch back unrepaired. Bummer...

So the battery health was at 82% and Apple accepted this for battery service?
Maybe it’s different in Europe, but in the US health has to be below 80% (eg 79%) before Apple accepts it for battery service, and they don’t swap the battery, they give you a refurb.

Do you have a link where it states that you can have your battery service above 80%? Or is that some “EU rule”?

Eu regulations are different for warranty purposes than the United States.

Had you checked all policies and procedures for services like this?
