Hello,
I will reach Apple support after Xmass.
Does somebody also had this problem with green backlight tint visible on crown-side of AW8 in these 2 cases (very hard to notice in other)?:
- when swiped down to see notifications (like on picture)
- when “unlocking” AW during sleep mode.

No problems on Apple Logo during boot, no problems in apps also with pure-black Watch face.

For sure it was not like that when I bought a watch month ago.
Once in past I had a bright flash when received few notifications at the same time from fitness, maybe it has damaged backlight diodes.

This red dot is not here, some kind of artifact crated during long exposure to get this picture.
It’s pistachio-green like old clocks with fluorescence.

Watch face I use (modular + black back) - checked problem is HW based as it’s on both options: crown on left and right on the same side.

So update if someone is interested - I was told to factory reset at home and wait for an update as it’s probably a SW problem.

Factory reset and restore from backup obviously did no steps to fix this.

Un-pair and then set up as new, not restore.
Do you have any apps installed?

Thanks for pointing out 👍
I feel Stupid. You are right, not set as new.
Did it few minutes ago, set as pure new device, then set up manually as previously and it’s the same.

With and without “reduce transparency” there is tint on the crown side - picture shows this option turned on.

Pictures below are from Notifications
Reduce transparency OFF:

do you have an Apple Store nearby? I'd take it there, or if not, share those pics with support. do you have AC+?

Sadly we don’t have official Stores here in Poland.
However we have Apple “blessed” Resellers and Repair Stores (uses official parts and are certified).

So answering your question - no AC paid for this device, but I visited this certified Repair Store and they suggested as mentioned previously: factory reset + wait for update, if next one does not help then they will replace.

To be honest I doubt it’s a SW issue, already put a Feedback app issue about it.

Edit: Set up another Repair Store meeting as well for tomorrow…

so, Apple support (chat) does not support you in Poland? I would contact them and share those pics

Usually they are just informative and will lead to repair store to do the check.
I set up a meeting using “Support” app choosing a place and time.

After that if they don’t accept it I will make a call, thank you

good luck, with everything you've done thus far it sure does not look like a SW issue.
I seem to recall a thread here from when the S8 came out from someone having a similar issue, not sure though but might want to search for it

Another Repair Store accepted to take it to Apple for check and possible replacement… if they find nothing I have to pay small fee. Weird 😅

So everyone- Be happy to have official Apple Store around.

Thank you for support 👍

Lmao, Watch came back from Apple with a note that they have not found a problem (blind people works there probably) - but not paid anything for it.

Totally by mistake I found a thread where someone mentioned the same issue with S7 so my idea about temperature sensor causing it is wrong.

Currently I wait for new SW, if this won’t change it will go again.
What a joke

And another person with the same issue made a thread.

No SW updates has fixed it, it’s on the same side as crown (visible when changed orientation in Settings).

Looks like Apple does not understand this issue… and probably replacement is only solution.
Feedback ticket in Feedback app naturally not gave any response from Apple

Unlocking in sleep mode no longer have seen tint on 9.4 (avoided updating to 9.5 as I seen lots of people have tint problems)

ROTFL, by mistake I updated and… to my surprise this latest 9.5 version fixed this issue almost completely - green tint is not visible on crown side in Notification Center, unlocking is still fixed (as mentioned earlier).

The only place green tint is visible is 1st unlocking code window after restart which is not a big pain :) Normal usage (after charging) does not trigger this tint.
