Aware of High Sierra NVIDIA driver + firmware update, but left my flashed GPU at home. VNC possible?

Is it possible for me to go through with the OSX update, on my 4,1--->5,1 Mac Pro, then VNC into the machine to re-apply the NVIDIA driver? What about the subsequent 5,1 firmware update? Can this all be done without my flashed Mac card? All I have is my non-flashed 10xx-series card. Left my GT 120 in my hometown. :-/
 
Many posts here, mine included, all saying the same thing. The 5,1 FW update for High Sierra CAN NOT be run with a GPU that DOES NOT contain a Mac EFI!!!!
