I know it isn't real and is only a concept, but it looks just like the Apple iWatch "slap bracelet" patent. I want one! Why does Apple have no events scheduled right now??? Seems like the Apple design team has lost their mojo since Steve left us ;-(

Smartwatch Concept

Nice concept but I fear years away. Flexible battery with enough power and/or more low power CPU & display. In 5 years maybe ?
Would get one; nice gimmick.

Flexible batteries are here already ... I think the hurdle right now would be the flexible display.

Do I understand correctly that you are supposed to wear that on your wrist?!

Maybe even go out of your house with that on!?

My humble opinion is that is incredibly foolish looking.

So were wired headsets, followed by bluetooth headsets. And that was even with the "cancer" scare promoting them. Almost anything is silly at first even if it is useful.

I highly doubt an apple smartwatch until 2014-2015 because atm no one has access to wide-scale flexible glass display. The tech is VERY new and isn't ready for mainstream use yet.

Of course they could go the route of the pebble and NOT use a flexible display, which I wouldn't mind. I suppose we'll see

I have a feeling that whatever Apple comes up with, it will be nothing like anything we have seen before.

I dont even know if I want to have an iWatch. Hehehe. I guess all of the specs in iWatch /apps/ or whatever has on iPhone.

Well, they just announced that WWDC completely sold out in under 2 minutes. They better have something good up their sleeve ...

Interesting concept- however I believe that with current manufacturing processes, it would be difficult and expensive to make. Perhaps within the next 2-3 years.

Can't imagine the number of prototypes and gadgets Ive must have kicking around in his Lab.

The watch would need a fairly chunky top and bottom to house a processor, battery, accelerometer, possibly thermometer, speakers or headphone jack, camera. That's a lot of battery power required without even considering power requirements for a 5 inch long 1-2 inch wide display.. PLUS at least 2 days without needing a charge. Apple wouldn't want users to have to take it off and put it on charge every day.

Another newbie with the "Apple's lost their mojo without Steve" and a link.

Might be the right concept, but a functional device like that is years away.

I think that they could do just about all of it right now except for the battery. What kind of Lab to you work in?

Meth?

lol.. kidding. I'm a contract designer, no labs.

Yes it all seems possible except for the power requirements..

I hope it doesn't turn out to be a nano on a strap..

Not really ...if you look at the release timeline, Apple hasn't been this quiet since before Steve came back to Apple from Next.

^ nope. He's dead. In the ground, dead.

That concept looks stupid. If I wanted a slap band on my wrist I'd buy one.

While you point is a fair one... for me, some things look foolish on first look, and then with some time passing...they STILL look foolish.;):D

Lol ... totally. But if Apple designed something truly great, maybe it would fly. Interestingly, Tim Cook showed up at D11 this week wearing a Nike Fuelband and basically announced that Apple is working on an iWatch ...

Apple Working On iWatch

Still kind of puzzled by why he was showing off a Fuelband though ...

UPDATE - didn't happen ... lol ;-)
