How is this still an issue on OLED iPads? I bought last years model and returned in because I primarily use it in low light and it’s either too dark or constantly fluctuates brightness from sources such as a tv on in the background when scenes change from dark light. I bought the new model and it’s still the same.

iPhone doesn’t have this problem and neither to the iPad Air models. Such a junk sensor and surprised people aren’t mentioning this more due to its aggressiveness.

I might be missing something, but can’t you just disable the auto brightness and set the level to what you want? Assuming your iPad has that function of course.

Yes, but disabling an automatic feature that I would now have to adjust manually defeats the point. Auto brightness works fine on seemingly every Apple device outside the OLED iPads.

I know this doesn’t help you, but on my M1 iPad Pro, auto brightness works perfectly and this is running the latest software. Are you up to date?

Maybe because most people are not actually seeing a problem.
Works fine on my M5 iPad Pro, and pretty much the same, if not better, as all previous iPads I have had (about 5).
I also use it from completeness darkness to full sun and in fluctuating room light intensity and color (Hue room lighting synced to a TV). Very rarely feel the need to adjust the brightness manually.
That you have the same issue with two copies is interesting. Perhaps you have some unusual lighting environment or reflections.
It has two ambient light sensors. Suggest be aware of their locations. (In my case the back sensor is always covered by a folio cover folded back)

It’s only on the OLED models this has happened on. All previous generations were fine for me.
