I just checked the coverage document for AC+ and it seems that the coverage is extended one year beyond the new product warranty of 1 year. I was expecting a 2 year extension. Am i reading this correctly?

You get 2 years of AC+, it overlaps for a year. AppleCare+ is additional coverage that allows you to do express replacement, and damage replacement. You don't get this with the regular warranty.

If it didn't overlap, if you broke it within the first year, you would have to wait until year 2 to get it replaced.
