The flashlight is accessible in the control center. And on the AWU, you can also program the action button to turn on the flashlight. However, while in sleep mode/focus, the screen and the action button are locked. Therefore, the flashlight is not easily accessible.

When, if not at night, during sleep mode/focus, would I want to use the flashlight? That's weird. Or am I missing something?

The watch will never (perhaps not NEVER) be able to read you mind, but you could perhaps use Siri to turn on the flashlight?

I don't have an Ultra, I have an S8, but my S8 doesn't lock the screen when in sleep focus. Is there a setting somewhere to get it to do that?

when you manually put it into sleep focus the screen goes blank after 10 sec or so and you have to hold the crown for 10 sec to get it out ... never tried the action button during night ...
when you get into sleep focus by just passing the time you set it doesn't appear to lock the screen ...

are you turning on sleep focus manually?

I tried both, turning it on manually or setting a schedule. As far as I can see,. there's no difference. In sleep mode, the touch screen and all buttons are locked. The only way to access any functionality is to press the digital crown to unlock the watch first and then access the desired function.
While this is obviously possible, it seems like unnecessarily complicated.
