I am new to macs and I am trying to configure azureus to download but when ever I put in a port number and test it, I get a error message that it has timed out and I cant use that port. I dont think it is my router because I have my pc hooked up to the same router and I can randomly pick any port and it will work in bit comet. Can anybody offer any help on how to find a open port.

Your Windows torrent client probably uses the uPNP feature to open a port on the router each time you use the program.
On Azureus, try going into the Plugins area and looking for the uPNP plugin. Maybe if it's disabled, you can try enabling it.
If that doesn't work, you may need to manually open a port on your router.
