Back Button Doesn’t Go Back..It Returns You to Previous Website

Since updating to ios16 on the SE2, it’s been issues here and issues there. Battery life has been disastrous and the heating issue even off of charging has been present. I’m finding, now, that the back button when using safari doesn’t actually back the page anymore like it used to, but it actually just backs you to whatever previous website you were on. It’s been doing this since the update and I can’t imagine it’s an actual Apple feature. Anyone else have this issue? Loading websites also staggers or freezes until you refresh the page. No problems with any other browsers, just safari
