Hi Guys,

Wanted to know what are your thoughts on the Lens Protector for the back camera on the iPhone does it help ? It is supposed to protect the lens glass of the iPhone camera from scratches and cracks. So is it worth ?

Any possibility of the image quality getting poor or compromised because of this added extra glass lens on top of glass lens ?

I am talking about something like this -

It’s a personal decision. I used a camera module protector on my iPhone 13 while it was my daily driver and, after removal, the camera rings are still perfect. I decided not to bother on my iPhone 17 Pro though so hopefully I can keep it in immaculate condition!

The camera module protector did not change the quality of the images taken from the camera.

But are you not talking the opposite? Like with the lens protector kept on, your phone remains in more immaculate state than not having it. Then how come and why are saying the other way ?

I prefer the look of the iPhone 17 Pro without the camera module protector. I bought a bunch, but it doesn’t make the phone look as nice. I just have to be careful not to drop it. My iPhone 13 felt almost indestructible with the screen protector, case, and camera module protector on.

Never used these in all my Manu years of using iPhones - and never had any issues either!
I just see it as a needless extra layer of glass in front of the lens.

Most iPhones have minor chipping around the camera rings. Even my girlfriend’s 15, despite being immaculate in every other way, has some minor chipping to the camera rings where the anodisation has been removed. It’s a common issue but it doesn’t seem to bother the majority of folk anyway.

I would be only concerned and reluctant to add it if it compromised the image quality of the photos taken with the camera with the lens protector on it.

I’m using one along with a glass protector on the MagSafe cut out, because I do not use a case. I also use a screen protector. It has not obscured my photo quality in any way. I have some clear skins from xtremeskins that I will install once I receive a worthy case with an open plateau cut out.
