Ok, so a few weeks ago while I was cleaning the back of my phone, I noticed a 1.5 inch crack starting from the middle of the dock connector. My iphone is 6 months out of warrenty, and I think that I can replace it myself. Now I have 2 questions:

1: Where can I buy a new black 8gb back case?

2: Where can I find a concise guide for replacing the back case?

Thanks!

If your talking about the little hairline cracks, take it to the Apple Store before you start opening things up. It's a documented issue, so if you get a good genius he might be able to overlook the six months and replace your phone. Good luck either way.

Really?

It would be great if they overlooked the lack of warrenty. I got this phone back in 2008 and will be ellegible for an upgrade in august. For now, just getting a new back case is what I'm hoping for.
Does anybody have a favorite iPhone parts online store?

Do not change the Back Case - It is still better than Fake cases in the Market

Stay with the cracked case, it is still better than fake cases sold in the market. Genuine Cases are not available.

It is not worth putting $100 for the Fake Back Case Replacement.
