Sorry if this is common knowledge or not. I just bought the new I Pad I assumed in safari to return a page would be a two finger swipe. It doesn't work for me, what's wrong?

no gestures in iPad Safari.
1. Try some different browsers that have gestures built in.

2. You can Jailbreak and several tweaks are available which allow gestures.

I know, kinda weird that it's not built in like the Mac Safari. I'm sure Apple has a logical reason for it.

Two finger swipes are used to navigate inside bigger text entry boxes, like the post composition box in this forum. At least, that used to be the case until recently, when it became possible to navigate text entry boxes with a single finger. Which should free up the two finger swipe for back and forth navigation in Safari -- maybe in iOS 6?

That'd be a nice gesture to have but I do believe other browsers support gestures. I can't name one off the top of my head though.
