Hey all, new member here, I have been reading MacRumors for a long time for Apple news. Thought I would join to try to solve a mystery with my new iPhone.

Story:
After leaving the phone plugged into the wall with the supplied wall brick and 30-pin connector cable, I left for work at 730am with what appeared to be a fully charged iPhone. The charge did not stay however. By the end of my 8-hour day, the phone was down to what looked like 25%-ish. I took it to the Apple store to make sure I didn’t have any of the setting wrong. I had the WiFi off and even dimmed the display a bit in an attempt to extend the battery. Throughout the day I had sent and received a few text messages and had made a few short phone calls. Mixed in were 2-3 short iPhone crash courses to coworkers. Other than that the phone sat asleep on my desk with the occasional time check.
The Apple store was unable to see anything wrong but reformatted the phone to make sure there were no software glitches. The phone eventually died before I got home at about 630pm, less than 12 hours from when it was unplugged from the wall.

Question:
While at the Apple store, one of black-shirted associates asked if I had been using the animation on the phone a lot. Things like turning it sideways was the example I was given. This made me wonder if the GPU is sucking power every time you go to the home screen, tilt the phone, bring up the keyboard, playing with pictures, and anything else with an animation in it. Even unlocking the phone has animation. Could this be my problem? Am I touching it too much? It is possible the GPU could be worked so hard that it would drain the battery almost as fast as talking on it all day?

Opinions?
Am I crazy?

I am going try to limit what I do with it and let it asleep as much as I can to see if that makes a difference. It might be hard tomorrow as I am traveling though 3 airports.

If the problem continues I was told to bring it back in and they would keep it and check it out and give me a loaner iPhone to use.

PS: This phone is way awesome. :D
