Anyone have a solid 10 year old Macbook Pro like I who has done the upgrade from 4gb ram to 6gb?

I'm considering it to get last legs out of my wonderful machine and wanting to know if anyone with first-hand experience recommends it.

FYI, for those not in the know, the 4GB single stick required is $150+ so it's not what I'd call in the range of throw-money-at-it-and-see.

I haven’t done the upgrade to a Mac specifically but I have bought 4GB sticks for ThinkPads. The ram should cost you around $80 for a stick. I did some searching and actually found this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod...b_200-pin_ddr2_so-dimm-_-20-231-202-_-Product

What's even funnier is that it has a review from a MBP 3,1 user stating their experience with the upgrade.

Also few questions, What OS is the MBP running? Does it have an SSD installed?

Right on, guy goes in to some detail as well.

I was talking AUD with the $150+ so 80USD sounds about right.

Running El Capitan with 4gb RAM, OCZ SSD (first series about 7 years old) to replace optical.
