iPod touch back of 2g touch?

It's actually a hair thicker in the middle, but it tapers, so the edges are much thinner than those of the original. Since the edges are what presses against your hand when you hold it, and since the edges are thinner, I find the device to feel thinner in my hand than the original. The curved back may make it look thicker, but for the most part, its thinner.

And mine hasn't gotten hot.

It feels better. The tapered design makes it fit good in your palm. The smooth rounded edges feel great.
