hey
i use SuperDuper! as my backup software. Jw, for the future, if my mbp ever crashes and i lose everything, how do i restore everything back to my hd using the software, or am i gonna have ta copy and paste everything manually into the hd. thanks

You just reverse the From and To on the back-up screen. Keep in mind that you can not boot from a USB drive. So, unless you have a firewire drive, you will have to boot from your install CD and restore from there.
 
How does the hard drive need to be formatted to do this?

From what I've read online you should have no trouble if it's formated Mac OS Extended. It might work with other formats too, but I can't find much information about that.

Interestingly this isn't the first time that macs could boot off USB; certain older slot loading iMacs could boot OS 9 off a USB drive. That was USB 1 though and apparently it took like 10 minutes to boot.
