Hi all,
I need to get some feedback about the situation i have just got myself in!
Okay, my set up is as follows:
Macbook Pro - 320 GB HD (OS up to date)
Lacie External 320 GB HD
External 1 TB HD Partitioned with 750 GB for Time Machine.
Time Machine backs up my internal and external drives above and I have about a years worth of back ups.
Over and above that, I have a 2 TB external drive partitioned accordingly that I use Superduper to clone all the drives above.
My issue is that I recently decided to encrypt my drives and their clones.
All was well until I realised that the Lacie External 320 GB wasn't formatted correctly (It needed to be Mac OS X Journaled).
So I cloned it, reformatted the disk and restored it from Superduper, naming the disk 'Lacie' as it was before. Only this then caused an issue with my time machine back up, as it then deleted the majority of my backups to make space for the "new" drive, I then received a back up failed.
When I entered Time Machine, the furthest back up was around 2 weeks ago.
At the moment I am restoring my Time Machine back up from the clone, but I need to know if there is a way of getting Time Machine to recognise the reformatted Lacie drive as the one which is present in the back ups.
Would I need to use Time Machine to restore the drive?
Hope this makes some sort of sense, you certainly live and learn.
Thanks for your help.
