Yesterday, I did an encrypted backup of my iPhone 6, and then restored the phone with that backup. (An Apple Store employee suggested me to do this because of a battery issue.)

The restore went fine, but now I see that Photos reports: "uploading 40.463 items"!

In the settings, under iCloud storage management, I see that these 40k+ items are still in iCloud, so I don't see why they need to be uploaded again?

Just hoping that this does not result in data loss (I do have the full library on my Mac as well, so the damage will be manageable...)

Didn't lose anything in the end. Disabled and then enabled iCloud Photo Library, gave it some time, and all was fine.
