back up SMS on Windows without iTunes?

Hello,

I have a 3G running 2.1 that is not jailbroken. I haven't run a full backup in about four months, and it's looking like it would take about 20 hours if I did one now (partially due to the time span and partially due to my laptop's dying hard drive, I'm sure).

Is there any Windows equivalent of Syphone that would allow me to connect the non-jailbroken phone and copy all of my text messages directly (not extracting them from an iTunes backup)? I'd really like to upgrade to 3.0, and the SMS are the only data I'm concerned with losing.
