Since installing OS 10.8, on startup instead of the Apple logo I get a black screen with pages of white writing at the end it will only go away if you type EXIT. I thought I had corrected this by resetting the PRaM, this only corrected the problem whilst the iMac was still plugged into the mains. Unplugging the mains lead then starting up the next day brings back the black screen. On occasions on shut down the gear wheel is not there, and once again the black screen with a white oblong in the top lefthand corner.
I would have wished not to flatten the system and re-install OS X 10.8 as it is so much hassle reloading everything.
