So i have Background app refresh turned off from Settings>General, but if I scroll all the way down in settings to my installed apps and press on one for example whatsapp, it shows background app refresh as on and greyed out.

What does that do? Is it like having background app refresh on for whatsapp or is it off? I am asking this because im experiencing some big battery drain and i think this is the reason as i just noticed it.

I think its off if you disable it.
Just to be sure, you can enable it and manually disable each one, then disable it again.

I disabled it too, my 5S is dying hella fast.

said what I was going to say. Switch it on and switch them all off. Then switch it off again. Belts an braces.
