The iPad Pro/ iPadOS will never be really pro if we can’t have background processes going on in hidden stages and not the most active one.

For example:

- YouTube and other video/ media players will stop as soon as you switch to another stage.

- File transferring apps (like Send Anywhere) will stop the file transfer if you switch to another stage.

and so on…

I get it this is to save battery but come on this behavior is so 5-10 years ago when the hardware and software was much less efficient in power usage. At least give us the option to enable it if we want to.

This is a massive problem on iPad in general. The fact that media pauses when browsing websites is super annoying. Just give us a option to allow multiple audio streams. I don’t wanna her “but that’ll complicate things”. Stage manager is a mess the average user will never figure out so a simple “allow multiple audio streams” toggle should be JUST FINE !

Depends on the app. You can have multiple audio streams. maybe not with SM, but in general yes. Now compared with MacOS it's primitive. Then again, compared with MacOS Windows is cave dwelling in regards to audio. :D

With MacOS using Rogue Amoeba Loopback, I can have any number of audio streams go ANYWHERE. Multiple outputs, internal apps, you just line them up, I/O and internal. Unbelievable really, with little to zero latency or overhead.

Wait a min… you expected Stage Manager to keep background processes active? This has always been the case before Stage Manager existed.

Stage Manager helps with managing multiple windows… that’s the primary reason it exist, not to keep background processes active. The idea of the pro moniker is that it represent a premium product… however, pros can still get work done with an iPad… its just not meant for you.
