I just noticed that my Projects folder in Final Cut Pro X is twice the size of my Events folder. I'm assuming that this is because of Final Cut Pro X's render files.
I'm piecemeal replacing standard definition footage in several old video projects with high definition footage, eventually to wind up with fully replaced, HD videos. I'm using the 1080p footage coming in from the camera for the project specs, hoping that at least it won't have to make render files for the HD footage. However, it's doing background renders for all of the SD video.
At this rate, I'm not sure I'm going to have enough drive space to get all of the videos loaded into projects.
Is there a better way that I should/could be managing this to reduce the number of background renders? Better still if there's a way I can change this without jeopardizing the work I've done so far and starting over.
