Anyone have a preference? I have been using backgrounder in an attempt to get textfree to pull down any new text messages I get (trying to NOT pay AT$T $30 month for a family text plan).

This is working okay, but I have never used insomnia. It seems a more robust solution that backgrounder.

Anyone have an opinion?

They are really two different things, you may even want to use both at the same time.

Backgrounder lets you close an app and use a different app while the closed app continues to run in the background.

Insomnia only keeps the app and internet connection working while you lock the screen. But the app has to stay open, you can't do anything else.
