Backing up 3gs before selling...what items does it actually backup?

Ok so selling phone for a good price, does it back up all notes too or will the notes be different in the i4? Should I take pics of pages to save?

so it backs up, contacts, notes, pics and what else?

By pics, it only backs up camera roll pics. This link doesn't say contacts are backed up, but they are.
