Ok heres the skinny. On my imac i have an ex. hdd that i use for Time Machine. Im selling my imac so im going to use that hdd on my Macbook Pro. I dont want to keep none of the files on it except my Pro Tools folder. and maybe my music folder i dont know. Now here are my questions.

1. how do i delete everything off of an external hdd but only keep certain files.

2. is it even possible to hook a hdd up to mac without using time machine.

thanks in advance.

1.) Copy the important files off, then erase the drive from Disk Utility.

2.) Yes. Nothing says you have to use TM.
