i suggest you backup your contacts through gmail as well, you use microsoft exchange

i like it much better than saving it on itunes

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3GS (OS4.0b3): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.4 Mobile/8A260b Safari/531.21.10)

Let's see: daily iPhone backups through iTunes which are then backed up weekly/monthly through Time Machine AND daily through BackBlaze. Leaving iTunes completely out of it, there's OTA syncing with MobileMe which then syncs with Gmail through Address Book on my Mac. Oh, and complete bi-annual Address Book exports done manually, for good measure (which are themselves backed up by Time Machine and BackBlaze) ... ;)

I think that just about covers it.

I use Exchange, works great. Allows me to remotely wipe my phone in case of a loss as well.

Try the app iDrivelite. I just downloaded it and backed up my contacts online on their server. And it seems as if you can restore them straight from the app to you phone.
