backing up iphone 3g before jailbreaking...

hey guys i am gonna jailbreak my iphone 3g .. unlocked with turbo sim.. now i read soemwhere that ituens will automatically backup iphone whenever i connect my iphone.. but whenever i connect my iphone to itunes i had to put it in airplane mode (because i have unlocked so it won;t recognize my sim) will ituens still create backup file if i am on airplane mode? and after jailbreaking if i loose my all contact info and everything then how do i get back all contacts and stuff by back up file? where do i find back up file? pls help

Allright I believe you can still back your iPhone up in airplane mode.

Connect your iPhone. On the left pane, where it lists your playlists, devices, etc., right-click on the iPhone. Click "back up"

Voila.

you don't need your sim card inside the phone when you back up or jailbreak your phone.

everything worked fine... thanx guys now one question when i open cydia it asks me 3 option and sasys which user r u? so what do i select
1. user(graphic Only)
2. Hacker(+Command LIne)
3. Developer( No Filters)

i want to downlaod games, themes and everything that u can get from cydia so what do i choose.. pls help me can;t wait to run cydia..
