Backing up iPhone photos to external TM drive?

Greetings,

I have a '13 MBA with the 128GB drive. I cannot afford to dump the ~10gb (!) of iPhone photos there.

What I do have is a plethora of external drives, including a TM drive.

Is there a way I can back up my iPhone photos to my Time Machine drive, but not the MBA internal drive? Is there a way to streamline or automate the process?

Set up iPHoto with your iPHoto library on the TM drive.
then import your iPhone photos into iPhoto

You can move your iPhoto library to an external hard drive. Here's a tutorial:
