Backing Up iTunes PC and using on a Mac?

Right now I use iTunes on my PC and I will be purchasing my first Mac pretty soon and I was wondering if all I have to do is "Backup To Disc" in iTunes PC and it will work on iTunes Mac? Thankss
 
I'm in a similar situation, although I'm using an external harddrive for my iTunes library. Will I be able to just install iTunes on my Mac and point to my music folder on the external drice?

My main concern are my playlists. Will I have to recreate them once I switch over?
