Backing up my iPhone

Hello all, can someone tell me why is it that when I am backing up my iPhone it takes forever? ( well not forever but like 30 mins to an hr ) Its almost to the point where the backup stops like halfway through. I dont have any issues with my phone, just the backup. Is there anything I can do to speed this up? Thanks for any info.
