Backing up SMS

Is there a way to back up my text messages on to my computer and then re-sync them back on to my iphone?

When iTunes dues it's sync with the iPhone it backs up the text messages. I've restored each of my new iPhone upgrades it transfers all the text and all settings to the new phone.

Your personal settings, including SMS messages, are saved in the backup file iTunes creates every time you sync your iPhone.
