backing up solid state drive to other 500gb drive in mini

I have a 2011 mac mini running lion 10.7.4

it has a 240gb mushkin solid state drive with all the apps & os, & a 500 gb mechanical drive, with some apps.

is there a way I can make the mechanical drive into a backup to the solid state drive? a clone of the solid state drive? then if the solid state drive fails like a a (single plane engine going down), I could then run off the 500 gb drive (the plane running off the good engine that is left).

Use CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper to make a 1:1 copy of the SSD to the properly formatted* HDD (maybe a partition).
CCC offers scheduled backups, and my two system SSDs get backed up daily to two HDDs (one internal - MBP, one external - iMac).
