Hi

What's the best way of backing up a time machine backup external hard disk?

Are there any disk checking tools for the mac, I could use to keep track of the health of the drive?

Thanks

I can not afford too loose data, but I don't wish to break the bank either.

There are a lot of ways to do this. You could just plug another drive into your computer and have two basically duplicates. You could also get another drive, plug it in, and use rsync to copy between the two.

Although, here's an idea... if you want to make sure your data is backed up, why not sign up for a cloud-based backup like Mozy or Carbonite? This way you have a local copy for quick restores, but if the house burns down, you still have your copy in the cloud....
